Andy casile

guitarist

"People want to hear you play, they just don't want to hear you play for you."

Andy's aunt (Austin singer-songwriter Seela) dished out this nugget of wisdom to him while he was in his late teens.  As he played in bands throughout his formative years, he learned how true this was.  He has strived since then to be a musician who serves.  The instrument he is playing and the musical context may change, and in all those situations, he strives to serve the song, his bandmates, and the audience.

In his teens and early 20s, Andy played guitar in Seela's band.  This is where he learned the art of sideman work.  He had the privilege of doing live work with Seela, as well as recording on her 2020 release Cool.  In this time, he steeped in the Austin music scene and got to hear countless great songwriters and bands.  He would take what he learned back to his native Pittsburgh, as he played guitar and bass in assorted bands.

In 2021, Andy met Virginia-based country singer/songwriter Melissa Quinn Fox.  He joined her band and has continued to fill in as a guitarist and bassist whenever needed.

In late 2023, Andy joined the band of Pittsburgh country artist Michael Christopher.  He travels with Michael throughout the northeastern US, playing multiple shows per week.  Andy serves primarily as a guitarist in this band, but can be heard filling in on bass in smaller versions of the band.

While he remains busy playing live in bands and theater productions, he also is known for his session work.  Visit the "Session Work" page for more information.
